i was wondering same question

I don’t want to take dorm and college food do I still need to complete the dinning and housing forms?

I don’t want to take dorm and college food do I still need to complete the dinning and housing forms?

you dont have to fill housing bt i think u have to take a meal plan…like its mandatory. hope tha helps a bit:)

If you are a freshman and you choose to take campus housing I believe that you are required to take a meal
plan. http://dining.umd.edu/dining

It looks like College Scholars are not required to live in campus housing. See question 2 in the FAQ which also give you a contact name http://www.scholars.umd.edu/prospective/faq . You should email him for more information.

@Tommybo - are you planning to live off campus or commute? Dining plans are mandatory with housing in traditional dorms (since there is no private kitchen) but optional for apartment housing (since there is a kitchen and it is traditionally upperclassman housing) or off-campus housing.

Always better to fill out the housing form now and cancel by July 1st if you find off campus housing than to not fill out form and be stuck without or possibly put into a triple…

@maryversity my house is close to UMD so i take bus from my house. Is dinning mandatory?

Nope - if you are a commuter, you are not obligated to dining services plan. You may want to set up a terrapin express account so you can get lunch or snacks while on campus without having to worry about bringing money with you…it’s linked to your student ID card which you always carry with you…

http://dining.umd.edu/terrapin

http://terpexp.umd.edu/index.php

This chart shows you where you can use terrapin express points http://dining.umd.edu/dining/payment

31st or 27th for decisions??

Last year’s thread

Yeah, I see that application for the Housing and Dining Agreement too. It looks like just another application on that page.
