Just got an email from Knox College, telling me I'm a "priority applicant." That means no fee, decision within 14 days, financial aid announced with acceptance, and I have until May 1 to decide, all if I apply by November 1. Anyone else hearing anything similar from schools, and if so, what?

Tulane gave me something like that. No essay, no fee, one app, decision in 2 weeks, automatic entrance into scholarship contests.

yea, tulane gave me something like that too

How do you get them to notice you? I have good SAT scores and didn't get any "priority applicant" mail.

i got one from tulane

i got one from knox too

i got one from tulane, which is weird since i thought they were a pretty prestigious institution.

I think it's like everything else, PSAT scores.

Or maybe if you've requested info from them and gave them your stats?

Or they've just heard of me bc I'm incredibly famous. ;)

Tulane's really been pumping up their advertising ever since Katrina, I think.

I got that from HARVARD ^_^

I have higher SAT than some of the posters here and I never got anything...

ITS BECAUSE I'M BLACK ISN'T IT!! =D

That's because you don't need to apply, DerrickA. You'll get your acceptance in the mail in a couple weeks don't worry.
(JK =)

I better work on that PSAT.

Nobody ever told me to study for the PSAT, I took it without thinking about it at all beforehand. In fact, among my friends, studying for the PSATs would have seemed like some sick over-achiever thing to be doing... but seriously, free applications? So worth it!

If Harvard's offering them up, I guess it doesn't mean that "priority applicants" are extremely more likely to get admitted... anyone know stats on that?

I was kidding lolol

I'm so damn gullible

Harvard does send out a FEW "likelies", but they send out plenty of mail. For example, I have gotten an application from them with a letter that hurriedly assured me that it was a sign of their interest that they sent me literature, not a sign that I would get in.

likely letters are after you apply though.

I guess this a good enough place to post my question about these priority applications. I filled out part 1 to Tulanes without really thinking and now I've looked into it and know it is not the school for me and now I don't feel like filling out part 2 or sending my transcript. Should I just do it or would it be really bad just not to send anything else?

Don't waste your time... They've got plenty of applications to look at. It's not like you go on a blacklist.
