I applied priority to Maryland! I absolutely love it and am pretty sure if i get in I'm going there! Im scared that I won't get in though. Apparently Maryland has been getting harder and harder to get into every year; my SAT is an 1850 with a 93 GPA. Do you know if you can get deferred from priority applications? Probably not right?

Hi, I can’t really evaluate your chances and I don’t know if Maryland defers, but I do know that they often offer a Spring admission. Students accepted for spring also have the option of enrolling in “Freshman Connection”. This program allows the Spring admits to start taking classes in the Fall. The only caveat is that the classes and in the late afternoon or early evening. Last year, they started allowing Freshman Connection students to sign up for on-campus housing (first come, first serve). My D has a couple friends in the Freshman Connection program and they attend all the social and athletic events that my D does. One even lives in a dorm very close to My D’s dorm.

Actually, a representative from UMD came to my high school and I asked about the deferral thing… and the answer is no, it’s either acceptance or rejection. Don’t get your hopes down, though! Good luck!
