I just finished filling out both my FAFSA and CSS and I was going to submit it. When I checked collegeboard.com, to see if I made it to the deadline, I saw two due dates for financial aid. The first one is the Financial Aid deadline, and the other one is the Financial Aid Priority Deadline. All the priority deadline for my four colleges were back in January 14. I've never done financial aid before, and no one I know can help me. I'm scared that I missed the deadline now. Can anyone help me?

All you can do now is submit today.

The priority date is often the date to insure the best aid possible. Your aid may be negatively affected (or not), by submitting after the “priority dates”. At this point, you just need to submit.

BTW…you say that 4 of your colleges dates were back on Jan 14th. Are those 4 schools the only ones you applied to?

What is your EFC and what are your schools?

^ I only applied to four schools. Of the four schools, only one had a priority deadline on January 15 ( Oberlin). I’m kinda scared now that I applied today, instead of back in January 15…

Did you only apply to private schools?

Did you apply to any safety schools?

yes. I applied to two private, and two public schools.

Oh good…

Good luck!!! Let us know how your aid packages work out!

:)

Some schools have priority deadlines for EA, ED or things like that. When I saw a 2wk earlier date for a college my daughter applied too, I called and they said she was fine, that was for EA, regular decision was 2/1.

Oberlins looks like it’s 2/15 and 3/1 for fafsa, but it’s always, “earlier is better”.http://new.oberlin.edu/dotAsset/553951.pdf

^ I checked the site you listed. I’m still not sure now.

Call them if you want on Monday, but I would trust the site of the college over collegeboard, they have mostly good info, but occasionally certain things are off.

^ I will call them. I found the college deadline first before the college board one, and if anything goes. I’m pretty sure the college deadline should be the more accurate one.
