corbis- what do you mean by ‘house’? Dorm?

Corbis, you won’t find out until much later what hall you are in. If you signed up for housing and attend FSU, you are legally bound to that contract for fall and spring. Even if you don’t like your placement, there’s nothing you can do about canceling it. Hopefully you research your choices. You can do a reassignment if you are unhappy later on. You can also change your preferences as many times as you need to until May 1.

This is not a problem with this first round of admissions when you apply as early as you did.

Here are the stats on available freshman housing:

1621 community-style beds, and 3725 suite-style beds = 5356 available beds

Specific breakdown of beds per hall:

Also, if you don’t like your room assignment you can submit a room change request.

I logged in this morning at 7:58am and my son got priority number 402.

His choices are:

Deviney

Dorman

Broward

Cawthon

He recently visited his brother’s dorm at UF and was not thrilled with the suite-style dorms. He wants a more active, social dorm, so hopefully he can get in Deviney or Dorman with that priority number.

JenaS62- That is great number, he should get his first choice. Remember that not everyone who has submitted a housing contract will matriculate to FSU. You are golden.

did i make a good choice picking salley over wildwood? my major is math and minor is biology. i am also interested in using the athletic facilities and i’ll also be visiting lake bradford. i also plan on being very social.

Jossie- Are you going to visit the university for any of the spring Preview days? If so, you will get an opportunity to visit and view nearly all of the dorms, see their locations for yourself, and make your own informed decision prior to having to finalize your list.

Jena, My son who’s now a junior was a March admission decision because he was late w/ taking SATs and applying. He had a priority number over 5000 and ended up in Deviney (one of his choices). So I’m sure there’s no problem there

i decided not to plan a trip for spring because i dont want to spoil the university for myself. i’m just relying on the map for now.

@ FSUDAD, Nolette, & Wallacefl, thank you for the reply. : )

Umm, these were my choices.

HALL PREFERENCES:
- Wildwood Hall
- Salley Hall
- McCollum Hall
- Ragans Hall

I’m going in as a transfer Junior next spring.

I guess my question previously was when will we find out which dorms we’ve been accepted into?

Is 1636 a good priority number?

My choices:
- wildwood
- broward
- degraff
- gilchrist

Which one do you think I will be assigned based on my priority number. I also picked a room with a bath. Thanks for the help!

My priority number is 764, I chose Wildwood as my top choice. Do you guys think I will get it?

kyle- 1636 is not very good, i believe you will maybe get your 3rd or 4th choice. i got 329 and im worrying about my first 2 choices

Any other opinions?

Kyle, if you picked anything other than the standard Double for your choices, you’re going to be disappointed in that aspect. Most of the “with bath” rooms or really anything that wasn’t a regular double room is reserved for people with medical reasons.

At 1603 you should possibly get DeGraff. Wildwood is very sought after, and Broward I believe is extremely limited. I will say though that Gilchrist will almost be impossible, as that is used for Honors overflow and also generally goes very quick. I’m thinking DeGraff is your most likely option.

i really don’t understand what’s so special about wildwood, other than it’s new. i picked salley.

Space, mainly. The rooms in Wildwood are pretty spacious for two residents. I know it’s hardly comparable since McCollum is an entire apartment for returning students, but the rooms in Wildwood are a good 2-3 times the size of each bedroom in McCollum.

I am another parent who was up all Tuesday night trying to get a housing priority number for my daughter with no luck. Finally got a number in the mid three hundreds yesterday morning.
My daughter is liking broward as a choice or something in that area. She also picked Gilchrist which i thought was only half honors but now I have been told that hardly any non honors kids get in there, so we may take that choice off there. What other dorms do you recommend in that area of campus, with her number I am guessing she would get one of her choices for sure, thanks!

I was up from 12 to 2 in the morning, then I got up again at 4 in the morning, still not working and then I got in at 6. So Im hoping that I get my first choice

Maybenole:

With that low a priority number she probably has a very good shot at Broward. With Broward being very small, the dorm fills up quickly. FSU housing is very helpful. You might want to email them and ask if Broward is a possiblity for her priority number. They will have a good item from past years. My daughter lives in Jeannie Murphee and likes it. It is an all female dorm, suite-style on the east-side, in the same area as Broward.
