Priority registration--how important is it??

I know that UCLA is HUGE, so I was wondering how bad it is to enroll in classes there without priority registration. I'm not a Regents scholar, and as a freshman next fall, I'm afraid I won't get the classes I want. And yet so many people are successful anyway--so is it that important? Thanks in advance!

It means nothing once you get to upper divs in your major. You’ll get PTEs once you get late enough in the major.

Thanks!
What are PTEs by the way?

PTE means permission to enroll. Basically it’s how you override something that blocks you from enrolling in a class (like if you’re missing an enforced requisite or all the spots in the class are taken).

Priority is helpful, but it’s not necessary. Your first couple years you’re not going to get all the classes you want, but when you have lots of requirements remaining it’s not such a big deal exactly what classes you take. If you can’t get one of them, there are plenty of other choices.

Thank you so much!
So basically, is priority registration offered for Regents scholars not too important? I am considering another UC that I am a Regent scholar at, and priority registration is what’s making me doubt choosing UCLA over it.

Do AAP students gain enrollment priority?

I believe so.

only regents scholars, athletes, and the disabled are given priority registration. It is the best thing you can ever have at ucla considering the amount of students compared to the spots for classes available. I have made the best schedules, chose the best professors over the horrible ones, and have gotten into classes where I am the only freshmen and the rest are seniors. There are so many benefits as a Regents scholar at any UC (besides santa cruz) that you should choose that UC instead.

Thank you, I’ll take that into consideration.
I’m also thinking about the people I would surround myself with…is it true that UCLA would have more ambitious students than a less prestigious school?
