Thanks TSocash! I read the website too and thought UR participated in IDOC. However, when I got my IDOC email, UR wasn’t listed in one of my institutions that needed it… I just thought that kind of strange. Well… I hope all my info get to every place that needs it!

is anyone’s application actually on stage 5? mine hasn’t changed from stage four.

Everybody’s is on stage 4 until they send out acceptance letters. They don’t change it until after so kids don’t call in asking what their decision was.

okay that makes sense. I might have been one of those kids haha

“When will I receive my Priority Review Decision?
We anticipate Priority Review decision letters will be processed on February 15th. Since the Post Office is closed on Monday, February 18th, this will cause some delays in the arrival of our decision letters. We feel a letter is much more personal so you will not see a decision in your MyROC account.”

-Got this off UR’s website just for an update for all y’all anxiously waiting to hear back from PR decision like I am!

where did you find that? I have not seen that anywhere.

The decisions were supposed to be to you by 2/15. They now say they’ll mail them on the 15th via snail mail.So lame!!

They have always said that the applicant will be notified by the 15th. Where specifically does it say that decisions will be mailed by that date?

[University of Rochester : College Admissions](http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/ask/default.shtm)

At any rate, we’ll get the decisions soon enough.

It seems they don’t know the meaning of notify by 2/15

Hey, now. They probably weren’t expecting the ~8% increase in applications. We still get to find out more than a month in advance, so I’m not going to complain.

So, what first attracted all of you [or your (supposed) kids] to this school?

My son was very impressed with the path to med. school at UR.He met with a Sr. Dir. of admissions off campus. We would have looked hard @ UR if accepted and was offered significant aid. My daughter a H.S.Jr was with us @ the interview and the Anime floor in the Dorm peaked her interest.FYI We, like most realist didn’t expect to get accepted ED @ Penn. We fully expected to be sorting through the places he was accepted and making a tough choice.

My guy first came up with the school from here on cc. He was just a sophomore at the time, but has wanted to go to med school (or research) since third grade. URoc was one suggestion to look at where undergrads really have oodles of options for research. He liked what he saw.

In the meantime, his older brother visited schools and opted for a southern LAC. Junior year middle son was hearing about southern winters… so started looking at schools located further south. In the meantime he got his stats in (quite nice) and honed in on what major he wanted (all brain related). He looked at all sorts from the stacks of mail he received. We talked as a family and eliminated all schools without merit aid, but the rest were fair game.

We visited and saw some nice schools where he thought he could be happy, but none were absolutely “the one.” He spoke of pros and cons for each. He picked 5 to apply to (one being UA as a safety with his stats, but the rest having neuro options). UR was not one of those 5. He debated and debated UR - the ONLY con he had was the weather, but it was a big one. Finally, he decided against applying. We were ok with it. Then we visited family in NY (not Rochester, but one relative is from there) over Thanksgiving. They, naturally, asked him his options etc and he shared with them. They were amazed that he wouldn’t apply due to the weather and spoke of all sorts of good things they had heard concerning UR (none had intimate knowledge - just local). We drove home and he told us he had changed his mind and wanted to apply. Ok. He submitted his app at or very near the PR deadline. His interview came by phone a little later.

Feb came around and he had acceptances to 4 of his schools with some decent merit aid. We decided he really should visit UR, but since acceptances were coming up, we waited for that to come in first. It did. About a year ago we visited - in Feb so he could see winter. A nice snowfall came along (but not several inches). He fell in love… but I cautioned him to wait until the finances came in to see if it was affordable.

We did one more visit on accepted students day and he spent the night. He was still in love. He’s there now and still in love. He loves his peers, his profs, his classes, the multitude of clubs and opportunities in his free time - and even winter! He’s loved the snow. Who would have guessed?

I’m just glad he found his niche. ;)

I encourage all who are thinking about the school to visit and talk with students. You’ll know then if it’s a fit or not. It’s a pretty self-selecting school IMO.

Oldest is happy with his southern LAC. Middle is happy with his northern research U.

One more to go… but he’s thinking tropical botany, so isn’t likely to join either brother. The right school is out there for everyone.

So again, good luck to all!

As for UR…my bottom line is best college in the USA that many folks out there know nothing about…and I say this before knowing if my kid will get in.

Okay okay
On another note. Have we all decided that letters aren’t going to be coming until next week? No one has gotten letters yet have they?

I think that the university is going to begin sending them out tomorrow. So residents of New York will probably receive them on Saturday. But for out of state students it might take a bit longer, especially since there is no mail on Monday. I’m in California and I think I’ll receive it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

Yep! Decisions are being mailed out tomorrow! Good luck to everybody! I’m on the west coast too, so I can’t wait until next week!

So, when will they get mailed? Will U of R make some sort of announcement about it?

I’m a citizen living abroad in Europe (though I have a permanent address on the west coast), so it’s going to take a while to reach me either way. =P I’m not too familiar with the US postal system; does it work over weekends?

My son applied Priority… I received a request from CSS this morning to upload financial aid documents. Should I take this as a good sign as letters were mailed today? or just a coincidence?
