Priority Waitlist :s

So, if one is accepted off the Priority Waitlist, then when is the deadline to pay up the deposit? The waitlist letter has conflicting statements about decisions being given out on May 6th but payment has to be made by the 1st of May.

If I change my mind and want to take my name off the Priority Waitlist, do I just call the admissions office or is there a way to do this online?

You have to pay the enrollment deposit within 24 hours of being offered acceptance from the priority wait-list.

@kMz - you have to call them and ask them to take you off

is priority list enrollment binding. what if i pay for enrollment on may 6th. but i get waitlisted cleared at mit later in the month. is cmu enrollment binding (as in early decision) to go to cmu. or do i just lose deposit and take my name off if/when i get mit cleared later.

i know cmu has regular waiting list also, so i don’t feel that i will be taking away someone else’s spot if i do the above. in other words i am looking for techincal/policy answer not ethical.

Spiral, if u r waiting for MIT waitlist, then don’t do your priority waitlist at CMU.
If you pay the money on 6th, then that means you are binding to go to that college.
However, reguluar waitlist is a different story.

I don’t think that’s true Bruce…I believe it is only binding in the sense that you lose 600 dollars if you don’t attend.

any updates on how the waitlist situation is looking in cit or scs? this year is supposed to be brutal for private universities, so i expect cmu to dig deep into waiting list.

I just got an email saying there will be few openings for admission in CIT this year. They wanted to make sure I was truly committed to Carnegie. Anyone else get this email?

Yea, I got the email. I’m not really sure if I really want to go to CMU, it’s not really my first choice. I’ve already submitted my SIR for UCLA but I’m still deciding if I still want to stay on the priority waitlist.

I think cmu sends computer generated emails to all waiting list candidates. Anyone who did not get an email?

anyone on hss priority waitlist?

I got one for CIT. I’m guessing that means CMU will be using Priority Wait-list significantly at all the other schools since they singled out CIT with the e-mail saying “we only have a few spots”.

quantize, Why do you say they singled out cit? It appears a good marketing technique that every department will get the same message (that there are a few openings)- take it while they last. Oh, and pay me $600 non-refundable in the meantime even if you change your mind later). Used-car sales pressure technique works in college admissions too.

I got one from SCS as well. I want to go so badly! It’s my absolute first choice!! My dream since young!

I hope you get in. I declined SCS & CIT last week. Frees up one spot at least.

For school of Humanity and social science, the email says " It appears that
there may be only a very small number of openings" so I am sure it is not just cit. very small number of openings might be less than “few openings.”

someone at my school got bumped off the SCS waiting list today. i don’t know if it makes any difference but he had already been accepted to CIT and Tepper

and i’m on priority waitlist for MCS and have received no email regarding “few waitlist spots;” possibly a good sign?

dteeb, that probably means they’re going to use the wait-list pretty heavily for MCS.

@dteeb what happened to your friend again? was he accepted off the SCS wait-list?
