PRISM program....meaningful?

I got into U of M...with a $14k a year scholarship. So pretty much nothing compared to the ridiculous 60k a year it is. Our EFC is like 88k too so we won't be getting anything.

I live in ohio so I'm probably going to go to OSU. I was accepted to the honors college there and they are giving me 5k in merit scholarships (havent received financial aid yet)

But, I'm interested about this PRISM program that University of Miami emailed me.

Is it really as awesome and scholarly as they claim? I'm not trying to be an arrogant jerk...but I feel like it isn't better than the OSU honors program...but I would love to be proved wrong. (I am not exactly enthusiastic about attending OSU as I want to leave ohio, I would rather spend 4 years in Miami, but the cost is ridiculuous)

Any input?!?! Would help me and others accepted.!

I also got accepted into it and dont know too much about it. Like is there any financial rewards that we get from this and how many students are invited into this program?

yea, I really want to know how many are accepted

it sounds pretty bad haha, any idea on how many students get invited to it?

PRISM definitely isn’t for everyone. First of all, it’s a GPA killer. The classes aren’t necessarily harder, but they group all of the intense math and science courses together, so the courseload for your first couple of years is pretty much the equivalent of death. Also, you can’t use your AP credits when you do PRISM, they make you retake the classes you would’ve tested out of that are in the PRISM curriculum.

However, if you can get through the intense schedule for those first couple of years, and you wouldn’t have very many AP credits in PRISM classes, from what I’ve witnessed it’s a well-run program that brings you together with like-minded students. I was placed in a PRISM Organic Chemistry class last semester (I’m not in PRISM myself), and it was clear that all the PRISM kids are really good friends and know each other really well. Just a few pros and cons to think about.

There are roughly 70 students in the PRISM program
