Private and public housing uiuc

Hi I am an incoming business major and don’t know what dorms/private housing would be the best fit. I don’t want a crazy place but I also want to have a social life. What are the reputations of the different housing choices? Thanks!

well for me it’s all about maintaining privacy and peace and quiet and I best do that living alone. But living alone doesn’t mean you have no social life either. Are you looking to live alone or with a room mate, is the first question.

My son stayed at Newman. It is a great location for business students. He made good friends there and you don’t have to be Catholic.

Later he lived in Nugent, which he liked a little bit better because the dining hours were more flexible. However, be aware that it is not easy for freshman to get into Nugent.

As for social life, I highly recommend you go out for Business Council and the business frats. They recruit early in the semester. Check them out at Quad Day and don’t miss their info nights. It’s competitive to get in, so be prepared.

UIUC’s Gies College of Business has many opportunities to grow outside the classroom. Take advantage of these opportunities and you’ll have a fantastic four years. Good luck!

I would probably live with a roommate @DarkSpearTriant

Thank you for all of the information!! Do you know how early you have to apply for Newman? @88jm19

My son is a junior so things may have changed. You can check out this link for more information.

If you want a single they usually go fast. For more pictures you can check out their Facebook page. I wouldn’t procrastinate if you’re interested. It does fill up, especially as people start getting nervous about university housing.
