Private Certified Housing

My DD has decided to live in PCH but we’re still researching which one. She seems to be interested in Newman, Bromley and Presby. The one aspect we loved about Newman is the close proximity to the Quad and BIF (she’s a business major). Her sister attended Bromley five years ago and liked it there but it seemed to be outdated. Presby - we loved the suites where there is a kitchen and washer/dryer in the unit. Can anyone tell me if there are a lot of social events at PCH? I know that University Housing has a lot and it’s great for incoming Freshmen.

Any personal experience or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think it’s all about location, and there’s no PCH closer to the Main Quad than Newman. There’s a lot of social activities, and your daughter can get as involved as she’d like…or not. There’s no pressure either way. Good luck to her.

My daughter is a freshman and lives at Armory House. She wishes she would have lived in a dorm like the six-pack this year. In fact, she is living in the six-pack next year. She has a great roommate and has friends from her clubs and classes but feels like she has missed out on meeting people and other activities because of being in a private dorm. By the way with her meal plan she can eat at Newman and does that frequently because of how close it is to main campus.

baker28 - so it turns out that my oldest daughter talked my youngest (who will be attending in the fall) into dorming. My oldest daughter said the exact same thing your daughter did. She lived in Bromley the first year and although she liked it, she felt like she did not meet as many people as she would have liked. We haven’t applied to the dorms yet but she is also looking at the six-pack. We’re hoping she gets one of her top choices but I understand that she might not get what she wants.
