I am interested in going into medicine, and, from what I've heard, a good science program is the key to getting a good pre-med education. So the question is, what are some of the 'better' private colleges in Michigan? (I might also be interested in studying in Ohio or Pennsylvania.) So far I've heard that Albion is good, but as the oldest child, my family knows next to nothing about searching for, and finding, colleges. Based on my marks and extracurriculars I think I should be able to get into most schools.
One other thing I'm interested in is learning more spanish, (I'll have 5 years by the time I graduate high school). studying abroad for the summer would be nice, but I'm under the impression that small schools don't offer this. Am I correct in my assumption?

Check out Albion and Alma. Albion has the Institute for Premedical Professionals that give lots of pre-med experience.

Alma has a summer science program that allows prefreshman the opportunity to come to campus early for research and guranteed research opportunities beginning as a freshman.

One state over check out Beloit for its new science building. LEED certified and plenty of research opportunities as well.

Most small LACs have study abroad programs and many let you use your financial aid to cover the costs. Albion has plenty of programs, including Spain, Ghana, and programs where you can concentrate on your major while in the program.

I’ll check all those out as well, but I’m not sure if I want to go to Allegheny, since Meadville is where I was born and most of my family lives. That would be too close for comfort!
