Private High School vs. Public High School

Hi--
In 10th grade I was accepted to a private high school with very competitive classes and since then ( I am now at the end of my junior year) my gpa hasn't been the best (3.75). Will colleges look at the fact that I attend a well known private high school and got lower grades, or will they compare my gpa to that of someone from public school? Because I know had I stayed at public high school I could have gotten at least a 3.9 (Freshman year I had a 4.16 on a 4.0 scale).

Thanx

Yes.... have you looked at these boards at all? Next time you have a question that is this simple I would suggest reading through some other posts, just an idea because it'll save you time.

Well there have been many examples on this board of state colleges that use quantative admissions values rejecting kids that got into ivies. Private college that do a full review will certainly take going to a competitive private into account.

I'm in the same situation.

I don't think it's a big deal, it seems like a tough private school gets considered under the "difficulty of curriculum" category. (Regular classes at a prep school are about the same difficulty or even harder than honors/AP at a public school.)
