Private lenders?

I need to borrow some money for my tuition, and I wasn't offered enough from the Stafford loans, so I'm forced to turn to private lenders. I would go for the Direct PLUS loan, but I don't want my parents to take a loan on their name since they already have enough debt. I'm going to shop around, but can you guys recommend some good private lenders with lower interest rates?

If you are an undergrad, only your parents can take out a Direct Plus loan. If your parents are ineligible for a PLUS loan you can get an increased unsubsidized stafford loan.

If you are a grad student, you can borrow up to the full cost of attendance.

Anyone got recommendations for private lenders?

Your best bet would be to contact your school’s financial aid office. it will be very difficult for you as an undergrad to get a private loan without a cosigner.

If you look on your schools Financial Aid website they should list lenders. Students can take out loans in their names but 99% require a co-signer. I know some credit unions and banks have private loans for students. Check into Sallie Mae. Hope this helps and good luck!
