I am a staff attorney with the National Consumer Law Center (www.nclc.org) and Director of NCLC's Student Loan Borrower Assistance Project. We have a new web site with information for student loan borrowers, www.studentloanborrowerassistance.org. This site is mainly for consumers who have already taken out loans and are having problems with repayment.

We also do policy and advocacy work. Among other projects, we are writing a report on private student loans, focusing on some of the abusive terms in these loans. As part of this report, I need to collect as many sample private loan notes as possible. That's where you all come in. I am hoping that borrowers of private loans, both parents and students and co-signers, will be willing to send me copies of your private loan notes. I will keep all identifying information confidential, but if you prefer, you can cross out all identifying information before sending to me.

If you have questions about the project or about our organization, please check out our web site or contact me at dloonin@nclc.org or 617-542-8010. Please send the documents by e-mail, or fax (617-542-8028) or by regular mail to my attention, Deanne Loonin, National Consumer Law Center, 77 Summer St., 10th Fl., Boston, MA 02110. Thanks very much.
