I was forced to go to a private school freshmen year, but now I have the choice to go to my Town’s public high school. My town’s public high school is D3 and my private school is D1. My public school would allow me to take two math class and get involved with KEY. My Private high school has something like KEY but I get home from sports really late because of my hour commute.
MY QUESTION:
Will going to a private school give me a better chance of making it into a high-level college?
I think it’s more about the classes that you take rather than the whole public vs. private label. Just go to whichever school gives you better opportunities in terms of EC’s, sports, and classes.
It sounds trite, but the one that will allow you to be your best self is the best choice. You want good academics, BUT after that, where will you be able to do THE things that matter to you?Where would you be able to try new things? Where would you be able to meet around people who will make you excited about your day? For some kids, the choice is really obvious because one school has much better academics, or a team the other doesn’t.
High school is an important time for growth - intellectual, social, emotional, physical. The place where you can do that best should be your choice.
