Privates vs Publics for Pre-Med??

Hello, I’m entering my senior year at high school this fall. I’ve been reading very conflicting information about whether to attend a private school or a public (like a UC) for the pre-med route: some say that privates are the obvious choice (small class sizes and close supervision) while others say that UCs are better for pre-med (abundant opportunities). I’m not so concerned with the social aspect, rather how I can attain a solid GPA, establish close relationships with professors, and attain many research and volunteer opportunities. Although this is a highly idealistic expectation, I hope you can give some advice to at least narrow down my choices for colleges. Thank you!

For premeds, cost is a big concern so that you can avoid debt and save money for medical school.

Publics usually only make sense in your state of residency or if you get large scholarships. Privates also are best considered with net price after FA and scholarships.
