Pro/Cons of Northeastern?

What are some of your favorite and least favorite things about Northeastern?

I've never been there, but Boston and the Co-op program both look nice.

The pros and cons really differ by person. For me as a science major though:

Pros
-Boston and co-op are the two biggest ones, for just about everyone here
-Schedule flexibility because of the 5 year plan
-Exploring different areas of science through classes, on-campus opportunity, co-op
-Really good professors in neuroscience and some bio classes
-Lots of opportunities as far as clubs and campus activities
-Campus facilities (curry center, library, gyms are all pretty good)

Cons
-Cost. Not only of tuition but also cost of living with rent, food, transportation, etc.
-There are some idiots at this school. People who I am amazed even got into college.
-Some lack of student involvement. There are absolutely cool groups and campus activities here, some with really good attendance. But there are also a lot of kids who really do nothing. ever.

Luckily the last two cons are easily avoided by just hanging out with the right people. Cost, there's no way around. Even living in the sketchy parts of the city costs some serious $$$.

Con: school is very stingy about their money. We just had Piketoberfest where the school brings in bands and is a grand ol' time (supposed to be). However since this cost $3 million, the school cut funding to a lot of other clubs (i.e. acapella group) so the school had to cancel all of the acapella group's off campus venues. The cost of an acapella concert? $1,000. I really enjoy going to these concerts, a lot more than Piketoberfest. With all of the students here (~16,000) times the tuition/student (~45,000), you would think they could cough up a little dough here and there to help the average student, but they won't. I'm starting to think the school is so concerned with its image (by bringing in big names like Jon Stewart) that it doesn't care as much as it should for the students.

Two of the cons that Emily mentioned though (about stupid people and people not caring) are true at nearly every college, however.

And RedSox, you have to givethem credit. They do "cough up a little dough". They give a huge portion of the students scholarships that allow them to even possibly attend. The cost of Northeastern is pretty average for private institutions, but it is dramaticly lowered by the merit scholarships. Plenty of people wouldn't even be able to go to a private university at all if not for the money they get from Northeastern, and the funding for the acapella concerts certainly wouldn't be great at some public school on shrinking state budgets.

Pros:
-Hockey Games, I came here disliking hockey and not watching it ever and after one game I LOVE IT. Me and my friends on ym floor are going to every home game and select away games that are close. We're pumped!
-Co Op program is stellar, it really gives you a huge advantage over the competition when applying for a job.
-Solid sciences/ math departments
-The city of Boston and your location in it
-Small knit community makes you feel like you aren't even in a city

Cons:
-Physics department leaves a lot to be desired...

Agree with physics department
