Pro-cons of Stanford?

That’s fine but I’m basing my opinions on what literally dozens of what Stanford-affiliated people have told me

I hope most Universities aren’t like that! Oh wait…

I’m not trying to diss Stanford. I’m just stating the facts

Well unless you have experienced it for yourself I don’t think you can state that as factual. Its hearsay, speculative, conjecture. Once you visit and spend time on the campus, if thats your opinion then I respect that, but to make such a broad statement and then call it fact is unfair. I met dozens of students, not affliates. We were on campus for 4 days interacting with kids from all majors and never did we come across any type of ‘cockyness’. As for the professors they all came across as sincere and involved with their students. Does this mean that ‘everyone’ is this way ‘no’ but it sure seemed to be the norm.

Experience it for yourself, before you pass judgement… Thats only fair.

Those are the facts. Thats what I experienced so to me it’s fact. Yes I’ve visited Stanford. Yes I’ve spoken to students and graduates. And that was my impression. Not everyone is going to think the same way you do

Pros: Great location, beautiful area, prestigious school and great programs.
Cons: Not exactly easy to get into.

OK then that is your opinion. You stated that your info came from Stanford affliates, hence the reason for my prior statements. Again your opinion doesn’t make it fact for everyone just you. Just as my opinion is just that too.

Quick question. Did you apply to Stanford?

If post #18 is even remotely true, which I don’t think it is, then the same or worse is true of Harvard and Yale. Princeton, Dartmouth, and Stanford have all gotten better ratings for their focus on undergraduate education than H or Y. No doubt there are pretentious and cocky students at every top school, but Stanford seemed to have fewer of them in my daughter’s opinion, and she did overnights at HYP.

Also, the company my relative works for, as well as my friend’s company have stopped hiring grads of certain Ivies because of their experience with new management hires from these schools feeling they were better than everyone else and shouldn’t have to start at the bottom (do their stint in the warehouse, etc.). So I don’t think you’re going to find the other top schools to be free of cockiness, given the talent and socio-economic pools they draw from.

Thank You TheGFG. I think there are a lot of schools out there that have some cocky kids and they aren’t all Ivies. It’s not fair to single out any one school.
