Hi everyone.
I’m hoping to get some info about the probability of me getting into UF, and if not UF then FSU.
I’m studying Civil Engineering, and before I get into the good things about my application I’ll discuss the bad.
I started studying part time, and when I first started I switched my majors like 5 times, though I never switched major to where I’d be taking completely different courses. Still, I switched my degree 5 times, and started part time (spent over 2 years and didn’t even finish my AA).
Almost done studying for an AS, I switched again, this time to something completely different (BS engineering). I switched from medical courses to engineering.
I didn’t plan properly, and now I’m in Calculus 2, Chemistry 1, and haven’t even done intro to physics.
I’m looking at this semester finishing calculus 2, chemistry 1, and autocad.
Next semester calculus 3, differential equations, and intro to physics (physics 1 with calculus if I can get an override).
Semester after next physics 1 (or physics 2 if I get an over ride) and process my AA.
So that’s the bad. I wasted a lot of time studying part time, threw away a lot of credits (processing my AA with almost 110 credits), and switched majors a lot.
Now the good. I have a 3.54 cumulative AA GPA, 3.81 state college GPA, have never failed a class. Have A’s in my pre engineering courses thus far (currently just calculus 1, however I have high A’s in both calculus 2 (92% +4% PLTL) and chemistry 1 (110%) now.
Now here’s my question. What are my odds of getting into UF, and if not UF then FSU?
UF is pretty competitive. They require 6/7 pre engineering courses (calculus 1-3, physics 1-2, chemistry 1, and differential equations) to be completed prior to transfer, with maximum 1 retake, and minimum 2.5 GPA. That’s their minimum requirements, usually they expect students to have 3.0+ in their pre engineering courses to be competitive, and I imagine with much more demanding course loads.
FSU requires at least 2/7 pre engineering courses completed prior to transfer (preferably calculus 1 and chemistry 1), max 1 retake, and minimum 2.0 GPA. Those are minimum requirements too.
I’m taking honors calculus 3 next semester.
What do you think are my odds of getting into UF if by the time I transfer I have 6/7 pre engineering courses completed with a 3.5 GPA for those courses? How about a 4.0 GPA for those courses?
Thank you.
