For students who are rejected from REMS, are their applications usually reviewed for admission to the University of Rochester?
I read from the Rochester Common App sidebar blurb that applications of students who don’t get into professional degree programs aren’t automatically reviewed for admission to the undergraduate college, but the REMS website says that the REMS-rejected students can be invited to get their apps reviewed.
Can anyone explain or confirm anything? Thanks!
The REMS-rejected students will be offered a chance to have their applications reviewed for general admission. This was confirmed by an admissions rep. It would not make sense for Rochester to not allow freshman applicants tothe REMS program, many of whom
have stellar credentials, to not also have a chance to be admitted to the University. After all, only a very small number of REMS applicants will be admitted to the REMS professional degree program.
@trackmbe3 Thank you! So it’s confirmed that REMS-rejected students will definitely get their applications reviewed for RD? I know some programs (like the Boston University 7-year med program) don’t consider the BS/MD-rejected applicants for RD undergrad.
@college1721 You should have indicated on your Rochester application that you want to be considered for regular admission if rejected from REMS. If you did not check that box off on the application you need to email the admissions office as soon as possible to let them know you want to be considered for regular admission if rejected from REMS.
@trackmbe3 Thank you! I’ll check my application now!
