hey… I was recently accepted to Beloit…I am so excited as I am 99% sure that it is where I will end up next year!!! That being said… any advice as to which dorm to chose? I feel like there are sooo many options… I visited and I’m STILL confused…!!! sooo… where should a nonsmoking(prefers NOT to live with smokers…) female(all female floor…maybe, doesnt matter too much) who does not care about quiet hours or living on a ‘sober’ floor live? hmmm?
hehe thanks for your help!

Marta

PS: who else is thinking of going to Beloit next year/goes to Beloit currently?

Hey, Marta. If you go to the LJ, make sure you read the memories. Most people get twitchy about overload of dorm questions... :o

Congrats on the acceptance! I was accepted, too, unsure if I'm going, but I am quite excited going through the website. I just finished my residential choice. I chose Aldrich, Porter-Whitney and Chapin-Brannon-Mauer.

I love the LJ community. When I posted a few questions, I got really great answers. Going to the admitted students chat tonight? :)

Marta, My daughter will also be going to Beloit next year and she's also VERY excited. Congratulations on your choice!

She already asked for suggestions about dorms on the Beloit live journal that Icemaker mentioned - she got lots of good advice and was able to narrow things down from there. She posted in December or January so if you scroll down you should be able to find it. And, DO NOT miss Izzy's post -- you can learn a lot about a school by how people respond to folks like Izzy (and I mean that in the most positive way Izzy! :) )

IzzyJ-- yes! i was on last night, it was cool, i got some good insights into the school, and it was cool to talk to you after reading your post here and on the beloit livejournal (you asked great questions...thanks)

I am so close to deciding that Beloit is the place for me... but the wether keeps getting in my way. I'm from San Diego...I've never lived anywhere else... today it's maybe 60 degrees, and i'm in pants and a swetshirt. hehe : (

but, if Beloit is the place for me, like I think that it is, the wether will not get in my way!!! (I hope!)

It takes a while to get used to winter weather, after you're used to HEAT. (Oh, I love the heat. I moved from Malaysia to Romania in January two years ago. Not good.)

Heh. I was a little weirded out asking that personal "female" question in a coed school's LJ, but hey, I figured the boys were used to it! Especially if they want to "get into someone's pants" ;)

And I can't believe Morgan is still a male. :p

I am considering goucher (maryland) and antioch (ohio)...basically all in cold places... hehe, good decision making on my part i guess... oh well. i would have liked to stay in california but unfortunatly there just aren't many schools like the ones i was looking at around here.
Izzy, where else do you think you might go?

Ahh, I was considering Antioch until I realize that was just a little too much freedom for me, though it seems really welcoming. I didn't look hard at Goucher.

Well, so far I've been accepted to Cornell College in Iowa, and Knox (in fact, I got my official email acceptance a few minutes before I logged into the Beloit chat!) over in Illinois so right now, I'm stuck btwn Knox and Beloit. :S I'm still waiting on Bates, Carleton, Grinnell, Middlebury and Mount Holyoke. April 1st...April Fool's Day. How much more sadistic can college admissions officers become?!

hahaha yeah college admissions is sadistic...totally agree.

I have the same feeling about Antioch, I don't think all of that freedom is right for me at all.

my mom went to knox in the '70s...she liked it a lot, and has been trying to convince me to apply there. However when we visited Beloit, she was very impressed and thought that it might even be better then knox! haha...maybe. anyways...good luck with ur decisions!

Wow, IzzyJ, we applied to a lot of the same places. I got into Beloit EA, and I also applied to Knox, Carleton, and Grinnell. I applied to Lewis & Clark, Goucher, Kalamazoo, Lawrence, University of Minnesota, Morris, Coe, Earlham, Wesleyan, Swarthmore, Macalester, Haverford, Oberlin, and Allegheny, too.

BTW, I cast a particularly wide net because of ususual circumstances and a great deal of financial need.

Shadow, no need to explain yourself. I know people who have applied to 14, some 30. Heck, besides the ones listed above, I applied to 4 in Canada and I think I'm going to apply to some in Australia as well. I did the UK universities last year. :p I'm multi-continental! laugh

Yep, Shadow, I was lookin' at your list of acceptances in "College Search and Selection" and thinking "wow! I have a good chance of meeting this person". I got rejected from a special scholarship program for Asians at Wesleyan. :(

Marta, hey, that just reminds me how much I really like Beloit. Though Knox gave me better money. :| How to choose, how to choose!!

oh, I didn't catch the chat at that time, cuz I've got an important test.[I am a an international student].Do anyone know whether there is another time for chat?

P.S.Anyone knows what the creative writing is?
