Probably a dumb question, but here goes

I got a nondescript postcard from UA inviting me to attend a “Special Reception.” Question is, what exactly is it? My gut tells me that it’s just another info session, but the only thing that came in the envelope is that invitation and an RSVP card. No description, nothing telling me what the hell it is. Can anyone who has received one of these or knows what it is clarify exactly what I got?

I'm wondering the same thing.....I recieved the very same card today as well! I saw a number on the card and I tried calling it but no one answered. I guess they ended up going home around 4:50.

My Son got one too. This one is for a reception in Dallas. He is assuming that this is just an information session.

I'm now pretty sure that it is an info session, mainly because I never really expressed any interest in Alabama, but it did say "Special" and I was intrigued enough to ask what it was.

My daughter got one too for Tampa. I'm dragging her to it because I made her apply and she received the full tuition scholarship and honors invite. She has no interest in UA at this time, but then again, she knows nothing about it. She has a preconceived idea about it being in "Alabama" and refused to even go to their web page. She did the same thing to me about Georgia Tech. We did a visit last year on our way back from N. Carolina over the holidays with her whining the whole time before we got there. She fell in love with GT! (But OOS Tuition is cost prohibitive and she won't be getting a Presidential scholarship from there.) So I'm hoping the info session may spark some interest for her at UA.

I also think it is only an info session seeing as the postcard asked what her graduation year will be.

its just an info session...there are representatives from each school and your regional counselor...the president came to mine but i dont know if he goes to all of them...dress nicely, lean a lot about the school, ask questions, mingle with some of your future classmates from the area, eat, and have fun :o)

My d got the invitation and attended (Houston). Yes, it is an info session, BUT it was the best info session I've ever attended and d is the third child - so we've been to more than our share of info sessions. GO and enjoy. :)

woahh typo - learn*

ignatius- did the President attend yours?

No - the president wasn't there, though the speaker mentioned that the president had intended to come but had a last minute conflict.
