probably a stupid question

so i've been looking at a few of the more competitive business programs, some of which require a seperate application after a year or two where a ton of people apply, and they obviously can't accept everybody. hypothetically, if your application was denied, are you screwed out of doing what your interested in? would it be better to go to a less competitive business program to assure that you could study what you wanted? thanks.

first off, alot of them can garantee a spot
for example i was offered a spot at University of Michigan's Ross school of business as well as University of North Carolina's Kenan Flagler school of business (one is a 3 year and one is a 2) so if they feel you are good enough, they will offer you a spot as a incoming freshman(you still need to maintain a ridiculously low gpa)

and it all depends
for Investment banking and high finance, it seems they favor the top schools

you wont be screwed but good schools will help but a 4.0 at say indiana u's Kelley school wont exactly not land you a job
