Probably get this ALL the time but, what are my chances?

I want to get a degree in screenwriting at Emerson. I live in Tennessee, and my slight advantage is that I’m
Native American and can prove I’m recognized as one and belong to a “tribe”.

Current high school senior
GPA 2.8 unweighted:
Freshman year-2.8
Sophomore year-2.2
Junior year-3.5
My senior year GPA will probably be somewhere around 3.6 by the end of the year.
ACT: 24
SAT: Taking tomorrow, let’s just say something average like 1500

Sophomore year I got type 1 diabetes, which hugely affected my performance that year. As a newly diagnosed, it made my body tired and unmotivated. It was really difficult.
I was also working a job at that time, and I’ve worked two other jobs since that one.

Extracurricular:
-Acting classes for one year
-Various video projects outside of school

I’ve been creating films and writing for years, so I have some good stuff to put on a portfolio. I’m a good essay writer and it’s my best strength, so that could possibly help me over my crappy grades. Two years ago I wasn’t planning on going to a decent college either. Also will have great teacher recommendations. But Emerson is my #1 choice.

What do you guys think?

Hi, I’m also applying, from the research I have done this is what I think.
-The Native American heritage definitely has an advantage.
-Your gpa isn’t great, so you should want to get a good SAT score probably something in the 1700-2400 would be good, but if you can’t there is definitely still a chance.
-Your ACT score is so close to the middle 50% range but you should really try to get it into the range as your gpa isn’t.
-Having diabetes can totally be used as an explanation for your low gpa so make sure you include it somewhere in your application.
-Having a good essay and good extra curriculars could really put you over the top.
-In my opinion I think you have a pretty good shot, but obviously I’m not an admissions counselor so I could be totally wrong. Take my advice with a grain of salt.

Hopefully I will be seeing you next year!
