Probably going to retake with a 2280...

I'm a junior who took the SAT I in October and got a 2280 (800 CR, 730 M, 750 W with an 8 essay). I've decided that I want to retake it, partially out of a genuine desire to get a ~2350 and partially to assure myself that I'll have the highest score in my school. One of my peers has a 2240 (superscored) and another has a 2220 (but a significantly lower score on the two-part, since he only scored a 660 on the reading). Both of them are going to apply to similar schools as I will, and I would like to assure myself that SAT scores aren't going to put them over me for admissions.

Ideally, I'd like to improve my math score to the 750-780 range, and I don't think an 800 is totally out of the question. I would love to see my writing score to increase to around a 770, but I realize that in order to do so I would need to score better on my essay. I'd like a 10 essay (the highest I've ever gotten on a practice test - my range has been between 8 and 10, usually 8s and 9s).

Is it worth it for me to retake the SAT? If so, which prep books would you recommend? I've seen CrushTheTest's Math 700+ book and several others (Amazon.com: CrushTheTest SAT Math Prep: Hard Questions for 700+ (9781451574593): Matthew Kohler Ph.D.: Books, Amazon.com: Perfect 800: SAT Math: Advanced Strategies for Top Students (9781593634353): Dan Celenti: Books) that promise to help top students reach the 800 mark, and there are obviously numerous prep books for the writing and essay-writing. Also, is it realistic for me to hope for a 2400 superscored if I'm considering taking the test a total of 3 times (October 2010, June 2011, and possibly October 2011) with the scores that I've already achieved?

Thanks in advance!

^ I’d like to know this as well. The only section I really need to improve is the math one.
