Probably in need of the most help on these boards...

Well, I don't know whether I want to go to a school and major in Business/Economics and later get my MBA or get a degree in some type of Computer Science/Engineering and probably a master's after a while. And even maybe an MBA depending on a few things.

I live in New Jersey and my choices are really either NJIT or Rutgers. If I end up doing the Business/Economics route, I'll go to Rutgers but if it's engineering, then it's NJIT.

But I really don't know if I can get in.

GPA: 3.3 (I definitely know I can bring this to a 3.4-3.5 by end of junior year/this year)

PSAT: M/CR/W 60/50/50

On the day of the PSAT, I was really sick and I did no preparation. I think on my SAT's I can get maybe 1700-1800 but I really don't know yet.

Courses taken/taking::

Spanish 1, 2
English 9, 10, 11
World History, US 1, US 2
Algebra, Geometry H, Algebra 2 H, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry
Biology H, Chemistry, AP Biology, Physics
Computers 1

Senior year I plan on taking::

Computers 2
English 12
AP Chemistry
AP Physics
Calculus

The only AP class I haven't taken or will be taking is AP Calculus. Besides that, every AP course I took is the only ones offered.

EC:

None for my school at all. :(

All I do really is service learning once a week (I have about 60 hours now)
Worked since I turned 16 (once I got a job, everything I had I had to pay for such as food, toiletries, EVERYTHING)
And I box with the local PAL and have been to a few state tournaments (never won major trophies or anything though)

Also, I don't know if it'll make a difference or anything but when I was at work, I went from a regular stock boy to Assistant Manager in those first 5-6 months of working there. I was 16 and in charge of closing/opening the store, doing bank deposits, etc.

I know I don't have a chance of schools like Harvard or UPenn but I was wondering if I could get into NJIT or Rutgers?

Also, besides NJIT or Rutgers what schools would you guys recommend for me? Whether it's Economic/Business route or the Engineering route.

bump................

CamaroLover, I don't think your gpa is bad at all and you still have time to work on getting scores in the range you want. Get a practice SAT guide and/or enroll in a prep course. All of this really does help and it does make a difference. Also take the SAT a few times and also the ACT. Some people do better on the ACT test than the SAT. Don't worry about the AP's. Colleges look at each school and know what they have to offer/not have to offer. I don't know anything about NJIT but I think you would have a pretty good shot at Rutgers if you can get your scores up (not sure but maybe around 1800 or so). Instate will help also. Other schools to maybe consider would be Drexel, Hofstra, Hartford and Manhattan for Engineering and Pace (Pleasantville main campus), St Josephs and Seton Hall for business. Keep at it and you will be fine.

Also, just check to make sure you have all the main course requirements for each school (some may ask for 3 years of Social Studies, etc.). It just depends on the school.

Thank you so much. Yeah, I live in-state (new jersey)...

I have to get started on the SAT's, lol. And I'll definately check out the colleges you posted for me....Again, thank you so much.

CamaroLover, another school that also has engineering is Rowan. It is a solid school and may be worth a look. Also, if you don't mind traveling Suny Buffalo has engineering. A few more closer options that have business are Iona and St Johns and one a little further away would be Towson.
