My teacher recommendation will be written by my Latin teacher. She loves me so she'll give a great recommendation. I doubt my counselor will write me a recommendation for the school report. She's already written me 4 recs and she hates me. :(

My essay was about my two passions, politics and philosophy. I explained how they came about, and that I would further my passions in my studies.

I know my SATs are a bit low(I took them Soph. year and never had a chance to take them since), but I am just seeing what is up here. I love Notre Dame and I want to go there. Sorry about this being so long. I appreciate all of you reading this.

I'll give you a response as a Dunbar student :D.

SAT is all right, but you make up for excellent ECs.

GSP and many awards at the state level.

No math and science classes in your senior year worries me.

You just have to apply and see what happens.

What !

You need to retake those.... you seem really smart with those grades and i think a retake will benefit you......Def retake.... scores from soph year to senior have been known to jump hundreds of points...... Def Do that

On the oher stuff....... GPA is solid..... rank is good

the thng is .. it appears as if everyone who is applying to ND nowadays has great grades and E.C.'s like yourself.........so I believe that you need to set yourself apart through the essay...

I had a meeting/interview with a ND rep last weekend and he said that try to show who you are....... when he reads applications the best ones are those who give him an idea of who this person is and what is so SPECIAL about this applicant.......

Shine through your essays but simply dont say how great you are by listing all your E.C.'s........ Reveal youself......... (this is all the info that i recieved from my interview thing)

Good Luck on all your stuff.... and please i twould def benefit you to take the SATs agains

Good Luck

But you have no B's whatsoever...so isn't unweighted GPA a 4.00?

he/she did not include freshman year grades

so Im assuming thats where the b or bs come into the picture

oh and i just read my post.. i wasnt trying to say that your SATs are bad..... not all they are quite good

All i was syaing was that you definitly would increase that score if you took it again

Assuming no hooks, I think it is going to be very very close! I think it is a 50/50 toss-up unfortunately. Be sure to really work on your essay, it could make or break you. Good luck!!!

My Freshman year was kind of a clunker type of year.

I got a B in Keyboarding, Geometry, and English I. Upward swing there.

I am taking a math class senior year. AP Stats. I doubled up on science Junior year. The science teachers for AP Chem sucked and I had a conflict in sheduling AP Bio with AP Stats. I needed the math class before. I refused to take Calculus becuase my school refused to let me independent study AP Physics C.

My SATs aren't great, but I really could do better(1450+ M&V in practice), just couldn't ever find a test date where I could take it over. And I had a 36 on the PLAN test. The next one coming up is for a leadership conference and I am in line for a scholarship there. Could get a ton of cash. :(

I think you have a good chance. I take it you are applying regular decision?

Its good to see another person from Louisville. Will you be going to KYA next week?

if you have been doing that great dont you think that it is worth your time to go and take a 3 hour act test of a 4 hour (gasp) sat test!

Dec 3rd?... u might have to pay a late fee

I will be at KYA! Heard from teacher might get some cash there...

bump it up a little

Hey ryfrky!

Your grades look excellent, but I'm a little concerned about the SATs just because of the competition your class may have. I know that our class is currently overenrolled, and that makes me wonder if admissions will be a little more frugal with how many acceptances they hand out...Just remember, don't let the numbers label you; all you can do is your best and then it is in someone else's hands (scary, I know). Best of luck to you, and let me know if I can help with anything.

They really need to add a button where you can quote the previous poster. Anyways, on that note, don't stress the class before you too much. I do think that the acceptance rate will go down this year but I also believe that there will be a larger waiting list and more students than normal will get in through the waiting list.

totally agree about the button thing.....

Umm... so what you're saying is that the class before you doesnt effect the next class? .......

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#quote%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#quote</a></p>

from here:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/misc.php?do=bbcode%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/misc.php?do=bbcode</a></p>

ya, but thats to much work

I know how to do the quotes, lol, but most just have the button, that is all I am saying.

What I am saying with the classes is that ND will accept fewer students outright next year but they will have a larger waiting list and I am virtually positive that students will get off that waiting list whereas they didn't last year. In other terms, ND may be slightly more selective this year, but really they just will be a bit more careful as their old equations no longer hold true.

My son tells me ND will be breaking ground on a new dorm, soon. That may be positive news about admissions. The Pasquerillas were built when I was a student, and it definitely added to the number of women they accepted...

I believe they have said that they do not want to increase enrollment this time, however. The halls are just overcrowded with freshman doubles being converted to triples and transfers being forced off-campus now for at least a semester, and some may be longer! The new halls are needed, but at least what they claimed when they announced them (I am pretty sure) is no new enrollment, it is just to free up the other halls a bit
