Probably the scariest countdown of my life thus far- HELP ME OUT! I CHANCE BACK!!!

I've posted this before, but I wanted to elaborate a little more on my letter grades and get wide range of opinions. Honestly this is completely pointless. What happens is gunna happen but if you're a senior right now going through the admissions process then you understand why I keep posting these threads....

In case you don't know...chance me for James Madison University? Please?

GPA: It's not calculated yet but it will definetely be a 3.5 or over.
Class Rank: Top 25%
SAT:
CR- 630
Math- 520
Writing- 580

Academics:
-I have taken 5 years of math, 4 years of English, 4 years of Social Studies/ History, 4 years of Spanish, 4 years of Science (3 years with a lab), 4 years Theatre and Arts Electives, 2 years of P.E.,1 year of a community service elective, and 1 year of an academic elective.
-Of the above I have taken all Honors and 6 APs (AP U.S. History, AP English Language, AP Psychology, AP English Literature, AP Government, AP Statistics)
-I have recieved A's and B's in 23/29 (3 C pluses, 2 C's, and a D plus) classes. However my school is on a different, stricter grading scale than all of our surrounding counties and the colleges so if they re-calculate my grades, I have recieved A's and B's in 26/29 (3 C's) classes. All of my bad grades have been in math courses or science courses that include a lot of math. Math isn't my strong point and I'm applying as an English major so hopefully they'll notice that correlation and cut me some slack. At the same time, I read on JMU's website that "competitive applicants have mostly A's and B's." TECHNICALLY I have mostly A's and B's but still....

Extra Curriculars:
-Theatre* (Musical, plays, crew)
-Mentoring*
-Beta Club*
-Student Government Association*
-Key Club* (Officer)
-Spirit Squad
*'s indidcate you have to audtion/ be invited to join

Awards/ Honors:
-Spanish Award
-2 Core Value Awards (Accountablilty and Honesty)
-Honor Roll

Other:
-I had an article published in a national magazine

Additional Info:
-I want to be an English major
-I'm in state
-My teacher rec is amazing
-I was told by my English teacher that my essay was great

They accept 60% of applicants, I believe college board said last year they accepted 13,705 out of 22, 864 applicants. I'm so nervous. I can't even imagine what about me would make me get in over the 9,000ish rejected applicants....this is not a fun time haha

My problem is if you look at things JMU looks for I have everything, except I'm concerned that I don't have all A's and B's......

A bunch of people just got in EA...I applied RD. The wait is absolute torture. I have one month and 13 days until I find out......it seems like an eternity.

I'm. Scared.

Anyone chance me and leave a link to your chance thread and I'll chance you back.

First of all, thank you for reading my thread. Secondly, I feel that since you will be applying for English Majors, your CR and Writing scores should have been a wee bit higher. That would have got the point across to the admissions. But, considering that you are a US national, your essays are great, and that your recommendations are also great (as you say), you should just make it.

Have you taken any SAT subject tests? And, have you applied to any safety schools?

Btw, your ECs are excellent, that should compensate for the low scores.

I’m already in at my safety school. I’m waiting on my second choice still, but it’s pretty easy to get into. And my Critical Reading score is above JMU’s mid-range and they don’t look at Writing so…And I already sent my transcripts. There’s really nothing else I can do now but wait…but thank you and I appreciate it :)

I wouldn’t be too worried that your grades are lower in science and math, since you are majoring in English, they probably won’t consider those too important. If you can, maybe try to raise your SAT’s a little. Still, with the amound of AP courses and multiple ECs that you are taking, I think you have a good chance of getting in.

I’ve already sent my stuff in. So no more SATs for me. Thank you so much though!

The only reason that your application would be iffy is cause of your test scores. I think a 1200 (M+CR) should make you golden at JMU especially since you’re instate, although there’s nothing you can really do now since you already applied. You’re extracurricular are very solid, unfortunately public schools like JMU tend to put more weight on numbers than on holistic factors. Some of my friends got accepted to JMU EA a few days ago (instate) and their stats aren’t too different from yours, but their essays and recs I doubt are as strong as yours. I think with your current stats JMU is a solid match, maybe a high match if you get unlucky and end up with a tougher field regular decision. Good luck!

Well their mean SAT score (Just CR and Math) from last year was an 1140 and mine is 10 points above that so I’m fairly optimistic. I feel like if anything is going to hold me back it’s my letter grades. Hopefully I’ll get a happy admissions person who will take pity on me! Thanks so much!

You have a pretty good chance! Did you apply EA? If so you should have known the decision by now  Let us know!
I’m applying RD, could you please chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/james-madison-university/1448473-chance-getting-into-james-madison-university-rd.html

I’m applying RD so unfortunately no decision until March 1st- but you know that!

I would say that you are a low match. I got in EA with a 4.1 weighted and I did not write an essay or submit any EC activities. I’m not even in the top 10% of my class and my SAT score I submitted to them was an 1150. (Now its a 1350 but they did not get the opportunity to see it)

I don’t know why you’re worrying so much. You’re fine. Just relax, and wait for that fat envelope March 1.

Chance me?
