Probation...What should I do? Start over at another CC or stay at my current school?

I had a series of family issues including death that affected my school heavily.I regret that it took me so long to recover. I am on academic probation and this is my final shot before being kicked out of the school. I have been at my CC for about three years. Probation began a year ago when I earned bad grades. My school puts a limit on students on academic probation where you can only take a certain number of units (like 6). The bad thing about that is that it slows down your plans to transfer. Since being on probation, I took challenging classes and passed with C's (political science, economics, etc) but was still on probation. I received an award for achievement in English from my school while on probation. I have cleaned up my transcript since and don't have any D's or F's (mainly C's and B's and a few A's). I need to transfer but I know no school will accept me regardless and I take responsibility. My school's of choice (Notre Dame de Namur, Southern Oregon State) told me I could apply but it is imperative to get a letter of recommendation. Staying at my current CC isn't an option. So can I go to another CC (though they might not accept me because of my transcript)? Or start fresh using my hs transcript? What should I do?

Thanks!
