I'm a student at Indiana University. I recently got wrapped up in a alcohol charge with the university and have completed my "sentencing", if you will. I was also put on probation. I have a bad habit of forgetting things, especially my key card. Last time I got a temporary, the guy at the desk told me that there would be disciplinary action taken either on this card or the next one. I was completely unaware of such a regulation and never imagined one since they charge after two temps. The rules and regulations pamphlet says that violation of probation can result in suspension and expulsion which, as you can imagine, has got me fretting. I know it's a simple card charge but that combined with my alcohol charge makes me look horribly irresponsible although my grades are above average. I'm pledging a fraternity which is partially why I'm so disorganized right now. I keep thinking, surely they won't suspend me, but I worry that a big, bureaucratic university will follow the book very strictly. I don't know what it takes to get suspended, but if anyone can shed some light, it would be much appreciated.
