problem... seeking advice

Hello. I'm currently a junior living in Maine. Within the next half year, my family is very likely to move to Washington D.C. Now I'm thinking, should I stay at my old high school or move and adjust to a brand new one for my senior year? I'm interested in attending UMaryland College Park...

Bump Bump.....

I suggest you go because a lot of schools in VA and MD are really good. Will you be living in a suburb of DC (in MD or NoVA) or will you live in the actual city? Also, stay away from Anacostia at all costs while there.

Go to DC then. Don't residents of DC get in state tuition at all state schools? Not sure if you would get that consideration from a Maine school.

If you absolutely love the school you are at now and can't bear to leave (I'm assuming it's a boarding school?), then stay. But if you'd like to be with your family, there's no real reason not to go. Plus, adjusting well to a new school probably looks good, because it shows you can adapt to different environments and still succeed. Plus, as GiggitusMaximus said, a lot of schools in the DC area have very strong reputations.

Good Luck! :)

Montgomery County Maryland has a lot of fantastic high schools. Here's a link to the curriculum website:

like everyone else said, there are definitely a lot of well-respected schools in the MD/DC area that send kids to top universities.

wait, are you living IN the city? or in the suburbs (hopefully Montgomery and not PG)?

Let me know if the school is Yorktown
