Problem With Common App (Parent Info)

My parents are divorced, and I have no idea where my mother is... All I can remember is her first and last name.... What should I put on the app for address... city .... occupation.. [She might be in the USA but not legaly]

Another question, what does "Position/Title" mean... (listed as mandatory)-- Can I put "unknown" since I dont even know if my mother is working... and it would not show up either way.. maybe 'housewife' is best?

Thanks

You can write down unknown (see note attached). In the note, explain that you do not know your mother's name and address.
Position/title means what job your father or mother holds. If you don't know (in the case of your mom, obviously) write: unknown, see above.

You will need to include a separate sheet of paper (what I refer to as the "note") explaining your family situation, why you are applying on your own, and anything else that is relevant and that makes you different from the average student with two parents, etc... It is different from the essay itself, although you can certainly write your essay about what it is like to be living on your own at a young age. Make sure to include your name and date of birth on every sheet of paper you send out.

If you are applying online, you may want to explain about your family situation in the space where you are asked whether there is anything else you would like the admission committee to know about you. In that case, refer to that space instead of the separate note.
Hope this is clear. Good luck!

Very well, thank you.

marite nailed it. Do that. Good luck.
