I am studying in US since almost 4 years.
I used to be a dependent on my father until now
but like 2 years before we applied to Green Card(permanent residence)
but we still did not get it(expecting in like next 4 months)
So now i am applying to schools as an international applicant
SO my question is if i got my GC after i enrolled in my first year Can i apply for financial aid to the school for my second year and still get the same amount of aid as a person with GC before enrollment got?

Right now you are applying as an international student and will not be eligible for federal and state aid.

Since you must apply for FA each year, next year as U.S. Permanent Resident, you will be eligible for federal aid according to your family's income (Pell, sub/unsubsidized stafford loans, perkins loans, etc).

bummer.........

Once you have your green card in hand, you may still be able to apply for federal funding. Talk to the FA Office at the schools and let them know tha tyou are expecting to be a permanent citizen before the beginning of the fall term and they can let you know about other aid. Realistically, federal aid doesn't require you to apply early...its the schools that do that. And federal regulations stipulate that even if your application (FAFSA) is received after the start of the semester, as long as you qualify for the funding, the school is required to process the application. Keep in mind this applies ONLY to Stafford Loans, Parent PLUS loans and Pell grant. Perkins and SEOG are available on a limited basis, so unless the application is received early enough, the funds may already be depleted.
