Problem with Personal Insight Question

Hi,

As many of you have probably seen already, the only required personal insight question on this year’s application is the one about how you have prepared for your intended major. I’m applying to the same major for all the campuses to which I’m applying except one, because that one offers an interesting major that isn’t available at any other campus. Is anyone else facing this dilemma? I’m not sure if I should I just write about the major that I’m applying to for most campuses, or if I should write something for both majors in the same essay.

Are the majors related at all? You could always go the general route, but being a little specific to the major is better. If there’s no way to connect the two, then it’s probably best to briefly touch on both.

I applied to 4 UC’s. My target school Berkeley as a business major. My other applications were for econ-based at UCD, UCSD, and UCSC.

My essay spoke specifically to Berkeley’s Haas, to Berkeley, to the campus itself, to business as a major. It was written specifically for Berkeley Haas and it was very, very obvious. It didn’t mention econ or any of the other universities.

I got into all 4 UCs.

That “interesting” major, where does it rank on your wis list of the other schools/majors? Without knowing that it’s kind of hard to give solid advice, but you can cast a wider net by tailoring an essay that will cover the three schools/majors, all while targeting them better in the process.
