So im just thinking about my future at ucsb if i go there. And i know its like if you don't want to party you don't have to and all that stuff. But from what i hear, it all goes down in isla vista, and that's where you'd rent an apartment once you move out of the dorms. And from the youtube videos i see, it looks like there is a party there everynight on like every block, im just thinking all that noise will get really annoying after a while when im trying to study.

You can’t really be serious…

parties are usually held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
the noise problem is mostly a concern if you live near DP. I live on Sabado and it’s tolerable though I would suggest one street farther.
you can’t for sure avoid noise since it just depends on the luck of the draw with neighbors and also on roommates.

The noise is going to be mostly on DP and Sabado if you end up living in IV. The farther you get from the ocean the quieter it’s most likely going o be. But the are alternatives to living in IV. On campus housing is guaranteed for two years and even though it’s a little more expensive, you don’t have to deal with the noise and you’re going to hav a much nicer cleaner environment than 95% of the places you’ll find in IV. Once you’re a third ear you have the option of living in undergrad apartments which are actually pretty nice. It’s a little early to be thinking about housing in IV since you don’t even know I you’ll be going to UCSB next year but those are your options. I know a lot of times students who live in IV 3 years get really tired of it by their last year. Personally, I’m applying to ba an RA for next year, and if that doesn’t happen I’ll be sharing an 8-person suite in San Raf (on campus housing for continuing students) with some of the girls in my hall now.
Hope that answered your question!

I’m living on DP this year and haven’t really had a problem with studying. I would say I get distracted by my roommates far more often than getting distracted by parties going on. No, you probably won’t be able to do hw Friday/Saturday after 10pm, but the rest of Friday/Saturday is dead and you don’t have to worry about Sunday - Thursday at all. On the weekend, your best bet is to just study during the day so you don’t have to worry about it. Worst case, if you have to study during parties, just head over to the library for a few hours.
