Can’t understand where is the mistake, can someone elucidate it to me?

“Interested in studying insects and their effects on agriculture, Larissa and Tariq plan to become an entomologist and then return to help the farmers in their small town.”

I’d say two mistakes.

1)entomologist=n.n agreement(n.n is not a smily face)
2) their= ambigious (L and T small town or the farmars’ small town)

I do not see that “their” is ambiguous. Because of its proximity to the word insects and the general context of the phrase “Interested … agriculture”, “their” clearly refers to “insects”.

The correction is “an entomologist” –> “entomologists”

Their is ambigious. It can grammatically refer to Larissa and Tariq, or farmers.

It’s nothing hard… an entomologist -> entomologists
Larissa and Tariq cannot become one entomologist…(unless they unite…in a very questionable way.)

Thanks for replies, i’m international, so it is kind of hard for me.

Fog he meant the 2nd their, lol.

I don’t think the 2nd their is ambiguous because of the word “return”.
