Ok, well when i did my transfer update for UC Berkeley, i posted inaccurate grades of what i got in my French class in 10th grade saying i got two B's when i actually ended up getting a D and B-. It was in the last minutes of the update that Berkeley requested, and i had not looked through the information that they requested and thinking that they did not require high school grades to be part of the admissions process, i did not think of the need of having high school transcripts on hand. Although it is a requirement to have completed language requirements before your inception into the university, i understand this, but grades should not be important as I could say that i took french in 11th grade as well and passed 5 of the 6 semesters of my french class. the 60 units of coursework that they base your well-being on are outside of whatever i did in community college. So.. what do you think i should do and will happen to me if i respond to this problem in a timely manner?

So I take it you're not an IGETC transfer? That is the easy way to fufill the requirement (only 2 yrs. of FL required). If you can get your CC to certify your IGETC completion than you shouldn't have to worry about it.

If you're not IGETC, than it's 3 years FL in HS they require, right? Perhaps they won't care if you passed the highest level of French that you took. (i.e. D- 2nd semester, second year, but solid A's during the third year. This info should be online somewhere.

For transfers, they mainly want to make sure that you graduated from a US secondary school (or equivalent). But if you're using HS to meet breadth requirements, than they're likely to scrutinize. I would be proactive as possible in rectifying this situation w/ undergrad. admissions. They're usually polite and friendly and realize that using myBerkeleyApp can be confusing. Be honest and tell them that you misread the form, or whatever. Try to convince them that you didn't intentionally mislead them. Before you call/write, just make sure what exactly their breadth requirements are. For IGETC, all I needed was two years of a high school foreign language with a "C" or better (meaning no "C-'s" or below) which I barely had.

But if you just now "conveniently" discovered/realized the mistake after admit decisions came out, you're going to have a hard time explaining that one and they will want an explanation. Good luck--hope they don't canx your admission.

in the app they only asked for four semesters in which i got a c or higher, i somehow repressed that sophomore year was such a bad year for me because junior year overshadowed it in sheer badness. three years was never a requirement for hs, it was only recommended. i based my grades on memory because i really believed them to be correct. i somehow based everything that happened sophomore year on what happened second semester. it was my fault for not reading the berkeley app information until the final day, at night when my school's database with all of my records closed. however, the rest of the UC's had their transfer updates due on january 31st and did not request the actual high school grades. i wish to ask if this has ever happened before and if a precedent has been set.. thanks

my admissions officer isn't in today so i will have to try to call tomorrow. being that this is an admissions officer, one that officiates, do you think she'll give me a firm answer tomorrow?

UCLA is not asking for my high school transcripts and i think it is because i went to a four-year university for a year and then transferred to a community college. there is no way that i would have been admitted to a four-year university without completing the language requirement. So, does it matter exactly what grades i received when telling berkeley because what they simply need to know is that i passed two years of foreign language in high school.. the difference is when applying to the other schools they simply ask a yes/no question, did you complete the language requirement whereas berkeley wants grades to suffice for this yes/no answer, but since the grades do not matter, what difference does it make if post incorrect ones? and if berkeley says that because i did not self-report my grades in the correct manner they cannot accept me, there is no way that i could be in the position i am in right now unless i completed the language requirement. Of course Berkeley can counter with not trusting the bureaucracy of another school. Sorry for sounding agitated, but I have an essay due by midnight and this seems to be taking up more of my time.
