Problem

Is it reasonable to otain a government job during college i.g senators office if i don't go to FSU?

Assuming the job is physically convenient for you, sure.

Thanks! but Assuming the job is physically convenient for you, sure. I'm a little confused the answer is yes, b/c i would imagine that all the fsu students take those opportunities up, right?

OK, please be more specific. Are you talking about coming into Tallahassee and working for your Senator? This can be done...if you have the right connections.

If you're a student at FSU, one of 40,000 - remember, you'll face intense competition for all such opportunities. You've got to know someone, basically. This means being recommended by FSU faculty or staff or other types of association. Working at the capitol during the Legislative Session is frequently done and there are all sorts of support-type jobs students can and do fill. I worked a Session myself one year, for example.

Your chances are probably better if you're an FSU student, without any political connections, looking for a support job.

Okay, that's what I'm talking about. Thank you soooo much! I've had people tell me things before but I'm glad I found someone who actually experienced what I want to do, so THANKS again.

I read your thread on the other board and FSU has the best Political Science program in Florida and one of the best in the US. If working in politics is your goal, a degree from FSU's program would be an excellent start, in addition to the contacts you can make in Tallahassee.

Remember that 'all politics is local'. Florida politics turn into national politics...assuming you make it locally, first.
