Last night I recieved an e-mail thanking me for submitting my Common Application and now I should send in my NU supplement before the Jan. 1 deadline....
Only thing is....I applied ED and my app has been completed since the end of October.....
Did anyone else get an email like this?

Wow thats really bad. Have you double checked with Northwestern to make sure they have received all your materials and that you are applying early decision?

You shouldn't be getting stuff like that days away from the announcement date of ED.

maybe it was just a slip-up on their part? does NU say they received all your materials on your status page?

Yes. They have recieved all of my materials and it says my application was complete on October 30. I sent it with a return receipt so I have that someone in their office signed off that they recieved the package that I sent it all in. So I have proof that they recieved it all.....
Their office is closed today so I guess I can't deal with it until Monday :-/

This is what the e-mail said....

Dear Applicant,

Season's greetings from the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Northwestern University. I see you have submitted a Common Application for freshman admission to us, but have not yet completed and submitted the Northwestern Supplement to the Common Application. I realize what a hectic time of year this is for you, but wanted to remind you that you will not be considered an applicant until we have received both the Common Application and Northwestern Supplement.

The deadline to submit the Common Application and Northwestern Supplement for Regular Decision is Monday, January 1, 2007. If you submitted the Common Application online, you can use our electronic Supplement here.

If you submitted a paper version of the Common Application, we ask that you mail us the paper Northwestern Supplement. Full instructions for submitting the paper version can be found here.

Additionally, if you are planning on applying for financial aid, your College Scholarship Service (CSS) Student PROFILE and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed by February 1, 2007.

I look forward to receiving your completed application. If you have already applied to Northwestern, thank you! We will soon begin reading your application.

If you have any questions about Northwestern or the admission process, please don't hesitate to contact our office. You may reply to this e-mail or call the office at 847-491-7271.

Happy holidays,

Keith Todd
Director of Undergraduate Admission

typecastme, i think this must be an error. if you had your application finished and postmarked in october then you should definitely be considered an ED applicant. I had my application postmarked october 22nd, but on my applicant services webpage it says 'application completed november 10th." is this a problem? haha...we all seem to be having some weird issues.

Application completed is when they have received all the different parts, recs, test scores, application, supplement, ssr, etc. But as far as the email typecast received, that's weird, but probably not a big deal. You'll definitely have to call. Hey, they may be in today. You could call and email. Maybe get them to tell you if you've been accepted?

I think they screwed up and thought your app was a RD..?

Hahaha accept...that would be nice. I tried calling today and they were closed. So I sent them an email and will call on monday.
My applicant services says I am applying ED so it was probably a mistake. But I will call just to make sure.

I got the same e-mail. Except I haven't submitted either application yet. I'm pretty sure it is just a generic e-mail they send to everyone who uses the Common App. If I were you I wouldn't worry about it.

Well I wouldn't worry about it except I applied early.....

Yeah I agree with jbug, I got it too but haven't submitted anything yet even though I should have.

But just to make sure (since you applied early) I would give them a call.

I got the same e-mail even though I applied ED, but a couple of days later I got another e-mail saying the other one was a mistake and to disregard it. So I wouldn't worry.

I got the same email too, and I haven't submitted the common app yet. I assume they just sent it out to everyone applying with the common app.

Good news. They sent it to me by mistake. Now it's just waiting for a decision...

The e-mail in question was sent to any student who had initiated a
Common Application. Applicants may have completed the Northwestern
application later, but received this e-mail based on the earlier
Common Application activity. We apologize for any confusion--if your
application status online is complete, then your file is complete.
