Problem :-(

Ok, So last year when I did the 06-07 fafsa my EFC was 17000. In jan I renewed it and it went down to 6335. I come from a single parent home, and my mom has alot of bills to pay alone, dedt is crazy. She doesn't have 6335 dollars to give me to pay for college. So my question is, What are the chances that if I explain that to my college that they will give me the fin aid I need to attend. I applied to two private colleges with great merit scholarships. My class ranking is 2/389 my weighed GPA is over a 5.5, I may qualify for a good amount of scholarships offered but I'm hoping if my fin aid isnt met I can explain to them my problem and something can be worked out. I also applied to two instate schools in Florida and I'm pretty sure I'll get alot of instate fin aid and scholarships.

depending on the school, merit is independent of need...so they might give you a full ride, or at least full tuition w/o even considering your EFC...at least ride it out and wait for the decisions before despairing...nad sometimes things are negotiable...good luck!

there are so many scholarships out there....many based on financial need but there are merit based scholarships and awards. My daughter has applied to 20 or so different organizations for additional scholarships. But may be too late to apply for most now.

Thank you!
