I am very worried now, I have sent the deposit for 300$ and said that I will attend fordham, they have already sent me forms to fill out etc. And now my parents are saying that they want me to stay another year in UK and finish my Alevel course. I am very dissapointed and upset, Fordham was my dream school ever.
Please can someone tell me, if i can STILL deffer my entry for one more year. Will Fordham be able to give me another chance? Please if no one knows the answer, please write to me what you think or your opinion, I feel so bad for students who were on waitlist.
My parents first agreed for me to go year early, but then said that they think its good idea to spend one more year in UK until i graduate.
I am very very upset and dissapointed. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! I just need to know if its still possible to come a year later?????????????

My opinion is that they are likely to let you defer for a year, but you can call the admissions office in just a couple of hours and ask.

Its just I feel very bad, I wrote to one lady at the admission office that i decided to come this year and she was very happy about it. And they sent me information and documents to fill out and said that I have a place there.
I feel very dissapointed.
She did tell me that it is possible to defer for a year, I just have to fill out new application. However you do think that its possible to still defer it even though i paid deposit etc.????
Thank you for giving me your opinion JJG!

Paying a deposit this year isn't going to affect you next year, although it's likely that you'll have to pay another deposit.

Deferral is different from re-application. When you get a deferral approved by a school, you are automatically in the next year, without having to go through the long application and waiting process, although you usually have to confirm that you will attend.

Dver, I see a potentially bigger problem, something you might not see. Your parents changed their minds about your going abroad to college; they were fine with it a few months ago but now insist that you stay home. I suspect it has little to do with A levels and everything to do with letting you go. Perhaps they didn't think you would actually get in or that you would make the leap when they agreed to let you apply. It's really tough - and frightening - to know that your child will be out of your range to help him on a day-to-day basis. I suggest that you have a talk with them to see if this might be the case. (They might not consciously know it themselves.) If so, they need to find the strength to let you go next year to Fordham.

I don't know much about the British system. Can you take the A levels if you decide you don't want to continue at Forham after a year?

You may defer your acceptance to the Spring or Fall of 2008. Please call the Admission office ASAP and discuss your plans.

Momwaiting, I have been reading about this and I think that A levels are taken in different subjects and are like taking some first year college "core" courses at the end of high school - or like good AP classes with testing afterwards. If you did a year at a good college and took freshman level core courses, you probably wouldn't go back to high school the next year and take AP classes with high school kids. So I think you wouldn't go to Fordham for a year and then go back for your A levels. If I understand this correctly.

But would the A levels be needed then, if Dver attended an American college? I wonder whether the parents want him to take A levels so he can attend a British university. They might not want him to limit his options for the future.

Momwaitingfornew I dont think my parents have problem me studying abroad. They sent me to a boarding school when i was 9 and when i turned 14 they sent me to study to UK, so now i do study in another country away from home. Parents just thought its better to do the last year of Alevels and recieve Alevel qualification. Just for the experience etc.
I did call admission office and I kept being transfer from line to line until I reached the answering machine. I will try again today!
I know that I have to fill out another application, but I am not sure what kind!
