Problems registering for MATH140

I recently transferred to UMD. I placed into math 115. I took that over the Summer and got a B. Now when I try to sign up for math 140, it says

"There is a restriction on MATH140 0332. No holdfile is available. *

  • Course Restriction You must have a math eligibility score of at least MATH140"

I’ve been trying to register ever since my class ended and this always shows up. I definitely should have called them sooner. I thought maybe my grade just hadn’t been processed yet, but it looks like a glitch in the system. It’s Saturday so I’ll have to wait till Monday to sort it out. Meanwhile, I was wondering if there was anything I can do before then since spots are limited, and I want to sign up as soon as possible. I’ll be down there today, so if any departments are open that could help me out, I’d be able to visit them today.

If u just took the math115, the credits may not have transferred yet. Remember that course sign-up involves computer programming, and the program will not know you have completed that “variable” until the information is in the system. Once your transcript is sent/received and then input, you may still also have to meet with an adviser to have the hold removed. It’s that way with some classes …regardless if you have met the prerequisites, only an adviser can remove the hold that is blocking you from signing up. So, call your adviser…

Thanks, I took 115 at UMD, so I didn’t actually have to send in a transcript for the class. I called the math department and they sorted it out in literally 5 seconds.
