Problems with 9-2017 ACT science score?

My daughter took the September 2017 ACT and improved her score in all sections except science, which was dramatically lower than any score she has ever received in the past in actual and practice tests. Several other families we know in the city of Chicago experienced the same problem. Our school counselors are reporting the same problem from their peers elsewhere. Also, for some odd reason ACT did not post the science score for about a day following the posting of the other scores, which was odd. Anyone else experience this problem?

There is a whole thread about the science score not initially showing up: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-act-tests-test-preparation/2018458-act-oracle-error-help-p1.html

It appears a coding error caused the science score to not display properly at first. I have not heard of any case where the the scores that initially appeared, including the cumulative, changed after the science score properly displayed.

Thanks for your response. I’m particularly interested in anyone who received an unusually low science score once the delayed score came out. We are aware of a few cases where the delayed score (in science and other sections) were unusually low (and sometimes high) and might have been scored incorrectly.

All of my daughters scores except the math were unusually low and were the exact same score. We mailed in a request for rescoring although we will not be able to get a copy of the test and her scantron. At this point I’m advising her to apply as a transfer unless the scores are corrected and come back higher. And her score was missing the reading and the science for a few days.

S’s science score increased from 30 (Sept 16) to 34 (Sept 17). So his experience was different.

My D’s Science score went from a 32 (June) to a 27 (Sept). No other section dropped that precipitously.

The difference between a 36 in Science a 27 in only 6 questions (historically), which is why standardized testing is so meh imo.

If there were 1000 questions 250 per section I might give it more clout.

My daughter had the same situation; she increased 2 sections, stayed same in third and went from 32 to 25 in science. That is not usual for her.

My son went up 3 points in English and 4 points in Reading. Math no change. Science went down 4 points, and he was very surprised to see that as he thought he had done well on that Section. Can you still request a manual
re-score?
