I'm applying to Princeton using the common application. But, it asks for a PIN number, and those PIN numbers are only available for those applicants who are planning to submit their application through the Princeton website. What's the deal with the PIN number? What should I do?

I think you choose your own PIN number on the supplement... It isn't assigned.
(Double-check this.)

Choose a PIN

PLEASE NOTE: you must provide a four-digit number here on your supplement or you will not be permitted to check the status of your application or view your decision online. It will not be possible to submit a PIN after you have submitted your application.

You will use this number to log in to our website (Princeton University | Undergraduate Admission) to check the status of your application. The first time you log in you will be asked to select a password to replace this PIN. Later on, you may log in to see if we have received all of the required pieces of your application. At the end of the process, you will have the option to check your decision online.

Be sure to keep a copy of this PIN in a safe place; we will not be able to retrieve this information for you.
