problems!!

im on break and its the only time available for me to study for the SAT. so i have been studying for the SAT and have some problems i have, so can u help me out?

When i take practice exams, i try to do them as if i were to be taking the test. Problems are:

1.) my family is NOISY!!!! they make ton of noise that even with the door shut and headphones that limit noise reduction by a little dont even have an effect. so when im taking a practice exam, im disrupted with screams or shouts. ive been thinking of taking the practice test in a library, but the thing is, the closest library is pretty far and has a considerable noisiness in it (:(). so is there a way to fix this problem?

2.) distractions!! due to problem 1, im force to take practice exams in my room, where it is the quietest and yet the one that can distract u in so many ways. a couple of times, i stopped in a middle of a exam just to play video games, go on the computer, etc! how do u people avoid these distractions cuz turning off the computer and the PS3 havent been working for me...

3.) spacing out!! this is something ive been trying to work on cuz it has not only affected me in these practice exam, but in the real exam as well. as im reading in the CR section, some girl that i like comes into my mind or i think of past events or i just literally zone out. this is probably my second/third weakness in the SAT so i would like a way to stop zoning out/spacing out and focus on the test itself. how do u people stay focus all the way?

4.) time! what time do u CCer's take exams or study? i try to study in the daytime, but this noise and distractions are bothering me. should i take it during the time everyone is asleep? with vacation here, the average bedtime is 11:30-12:00, so that would mean staying up till like 12:00 and hitting the haystack at about 3:30.

thanks if u can help me. sorry for any spelling or grammar errors. its 11:34, and like i state in #4, everyone is barely hitting the bed. haha

simple. ignore them. i personally find it better to take a test in a “noisy” environment because it helps me “zone” people out. you are NOT going to get a completely quiet room. There are always going to be lip smacking and toe tapping. So, might as well start zoning people out now.

unplug your computer cord, and give everything to your mom, or put it somewhere you can’t get it. duh. :]

its a personal thing, but i always tell myself “one more question” even if I’m on #4. it helps.

time… everyone needs time. i studied during lunch. refer to #1 about noise control

Go visit your grandparents and do practice tests there.I find it really easy to learn in the countryside without my friends and the internet.

i was having problems concentrating when i started too, so i tried to make studying something that i would enjoy so i started with fun books and actually started looking forward to studying, and that transferred now that i got to the practice tests and pr hit parade word lists. the one i got even had in the title “ace the sat without boring yourself to sleep”. i’m sure there are others, but this is the one i found at b&n, and it’s like $10 at amazon, so i figured there was nothing to lose. laugh out loud guide, written by a princeton phd comedy writer. and it’s really funny so kept my attention.

but there’s nothing getting around that you have to do the hit parade and stuff. not sure about noise. when i have to get out of the house is write down all the vocab words i need to learn and go on a walk to review the words. personally if i stay up late, i get tired and then am even more likely to zone out so staying up until midnight might not work for you. when i find myself zoning out i go back to the funny book.
