The Common App says to “Begin by entering the course name EXACTLY as it appears on your transcript.” However, the way my school names courses is unconventional. Instead of calling a course AP Calculus BC, it is called AP Calculus 2. In addition, the AP Physics C course that covers both mechanics and E&M is just called AP Physics C: Mechanics. Wont these be misleading to admission officers? Should I use what the course covers instead of the exact transcript name?
Use the exact course name, as the instructions state.
I agree with @guineagirl96 - follow the instructions.
Really, they won’t care. AP Calc 2 is easy enough for them to figure out. For physics, if it really bothers you, ask the GC to explain in the Secondary School Report (although personally, I wouldn’t). But while speaking with the GC, you might suggest that the school renames the course.
