<p>Does UVA allow admitted students to defer enrollment for a year? if so, for what reasons?</p>
<p>How does one go about requesting deferral? I can find no information anywhere on the website or in the online catalog.</p>
<p>(I would prefer to get a bit more information on this before I call and identify myself to ask this question.) Is anyone familiar with this?</p>
<p>you can call and ask for information without giving your name or any other information that will identify you. My friend deferred her admission to UVa for a year so I'm pretty sure they still offer this option. I think you just need to provide valid justification for taking a year off.</p>
<p>I am planning on deferring my admission until 2009 in order to take a gap year for travel and volunteering. I called and spoke to a dean who told me that all you need to do is send Admissions a letter by May 1 explaining your plans for the year ahead. She told me that they will grant almost all requests in which volunteering or something else meaningful is involved.</p>
