My first quarter just finished and I’d like to send these grades to colleges. I understand my counselor sends my updated transcript the same way they send my original transcript. But should I inform all these colleges that there is a new transcript? Should I email them, or use the admissions portal to let them know an updated transcript is being sent their way?
First check the colleges to which you have applied. Most colleges do not want your mid-semester grades. There is a small number that do if you have applied either early actrion or early decison and for those you need to request your counselor/high school to send them.
I have already told my counselor to send in all first quarter grades. I was wondering if there was anything else I needed to do for these grades to be added to my profile, like sending an email to the college.
@kjake2000 You don’t need to send an email to the college. You can check your college portal to see if the first quarter grades were received from your HS. That’s all that needs to be done.
Which, depending on the college, may not show in the portal. Many collages update the portal with only required elements. Since most colleges do not request Q1 grades, they may receive them, and add it to the packet, but not update the portal.
Even still, I would not email the colleges to tell them it’s on the way, not to ask if they received; they have more than enough to do at this time of year.
