Alright, so here I am reading cc, listening to music, watching family guy and avoiding editing my Stanford essays and mulling over my fate on Friday when I stumble upon another Ivy's thread and see the godawful music that they listen to.

So my question to you all is two fold.

a) What are the main ways that you procrastinate/are tempted to procrastinate from doing work?

b) Some favorite bands/books/tv shows? (I hope potential Yalies listen to better music than what I have read from other boards)

I guess, as is the custom, I'll go first

a. Family Guy/Seinfeld/Curb Your Enthusiasm, fantasy sports, mozilla surfing (Stumble Upon)

b. Clutch, Tool, RATM, Zeppelin, but in truth I'll listen to almost anything if its sung/performed well. Siddhartha and Heart of Darkness. See above.

At the risk of being zapped for bad musical taste--

I LOVE Saul Williams. He's a slam poet/rapper (but his rap is more like rap/rock) and he has really politically active lyrics... his stuff is just amazing. Just great. In fact--if you like Rage Against The Machine, Zach de la Rocha collaborated and sang on several tracks on Saul's album SAUL WILLIAMS.

At the moment, I also like The Mountain Goats, Kim Richey, Bacilos, Ani DiFranco, Kanye West, Shakira, Garbage.

Also, I love the Utah state song!

My favorite TV shows are, hands-down, CSI and Project Runway, but I also really like all those MTV/VH1 reality shows that I can't really distinguish from one another.

a) Family Guy, Chappelle's Show, Daily Show, Fresh Prince of Belair, CC
b) Tupac, Biggie, Immortal Technique, Nas, Public Enemy, NWA, bunch of other ****. Oh yea, and RATM kicks ass too.

Way to continue branch off from my initial procrastionation thread.

a) CC, TV, music, compulsively checking email, iming, fantasy sports

b) The Who, Cream, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, the Band. Same TV shows, but also watch football religiously (go giants!). Favorite book would have to be Catch-22, with Brothers Karamazov a close second.

Some of my favorites include: The Arcade Fire, Athlete, The Beatles, Ben Folds, Ben Harper, Ben Kweller, Bloc Party, Common, Elliot Smith, Fiona Apple, Guster, Hot Hot Heat, Jack Johnson, John Legend, Kanye West, Kings of Convenience, Kings of Leon, Louis XIV, Metric, Nick Drake, The Postal Service, The Roots, The Shins, The Shout Out Louds, Simon & Garfunkel, The Strokes, Sublime, Sufjan Stevens.

When it comes to TV, I'm a sucker for shallow reality shows like America's Next Top Model and The Biggest Loser. I also love the O.C. an have recently enjoyed Commander in Chief. Also I watch Jeopardy every day, cuz its the ish.

Hi guys. haven't been very active in posting- but I'm EA Yale too. Since I am currently procrastinating from bio work, stuff I have to do for my theatre club, math catch up (BC calc is eating me), and probably tons of other work I don't even know about- I thought it would be appropriate to post here.
a) CC, facebook.com (high school AND college versions- because I'm that good), AIM, thenewyorktimes.com, aimlessly staring at random windows on my computer screen...
b) MUSIC: kill me, but i'm a musical theatre buff. i'm expanding my horizons though- i swear. most recent additions to CD collection = ella fitzgerald, john coltrane, jazz, jazz, jazz. love it all. BOOKS: most recently, again, I just bought Gloria Steinem's "Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions" after reading an essay she wrote, pretty famous, caused a lot of rumble, "I Was A Playboy Bunny" in my Women's Studies class. Feminist essays and such. Good stuff. TV SHOWS: don't watch tv :-0 ... it's not that I'm busy doing wonderful, productive, intellectual things. I've just always preferred other means of useless procrastination. Movies rock though.

Whew. That was a long post. Good luck everyone!!!

a) listen to music, sleep. I tend to get really tired at around 5 which coincidentally is when I would start homework... probably doing my homework in a really comfy beanbag chair doesn't help much. and as of now, coming on here. I have to set time limits on myself

b) I love The West Wing, and I'm also a Law and Order person. I'm a dork pretty much and listen to lots of classical music and musicals (rent, les mis, and wicked are my current obsessions)
